Tips for Working Mom – How to Keep the House Clean
After your busy day, you want to go home and relax in a clean and comfortable home. But, what if you don’t have the time to clean it because of your busy schedule? Here are 8 tips to help you in keeping your house clean even if you have less time to dedicate in cleaning.
1. Overcome Perfectionism
Most moms would like their house looks perfect all the time. But, for working mom this is not possible because of their busy schedule. Hiring a housemaid is one of the probable solution but not for all. Some of you might be in tight budget and could not afford to hire one. Instead of focusing on how to make the house “perfectly clean”, you can find ways to make it “clean enough.” You can simply keep everything in place like keeping the playroom close or putting the dishes in the sink and wash it once you got home or as soon as you have the time.
2. Get Rid of Unnecessary Stuff
Cleaning a house with less stuff is much easier as compared to a house full of unnecessary stuff. Buy only those things that you need every day. So, get a box and start packing those unnecessary stuff you see in your house.
3. Get Everything Organized
If you have available time for housework, give some time to complete an organization project. It is much faster to clean the house if everything is in place. Apply the “a place for everything and everything in its place,” system for the entire family to follow.
4. Identify which Needs to be Done Now
If you have limited time, focus on one thing that needs to be done now. One example could be washing the dishes or mopping and vacuuming, or do the laundry or clean the toilets.
5. Create a time table
When you get home from work, you can rest for 15 to 20 minutes then set another 20 minutes in cleaning a part of your house. Then set another 20 minutes in cleaning another part of your house the next day and so on. By the end of the week, you have cleaned the entire house.
6. Set 15 minute clean up before going to bed
Just like in creating a time table, make it habit to perform a 15 minute quick clean up before going to bed, you will be surprised at what you can accomplish. You can also assign a task for your kids.
7. Multitask Intelligently
Sometimes if you try to do too many at once, you will accomplish less. Multitasking could help you but you should do it wisely. Don’t just work on different tasks at the same time.
8. Let your Children Help you
Assign a task to your children, something that they can do every day like washing the dishes after dinner. They can do one or two simple tasks after school before working on their assignment. And during the weekend, they can help you with other tasks.
These 8 strategies can help you clean the house even if your schedule is full the entire week.
